I think finding something that would be flattering on you is a bit more important that the actual physique of the character. Some costumes are naturally slimming and if done properly will still make you look like the character.
When club starts in a week or two come talk to me and we can go over characters you're interested in cosplaying to see what fits best.

Any costume suggestions for someone too fat to play a lean guy but not fat enough to play a fat guy? The only fat characters I can think of are really fat, like The Blob (from X-Men), Sumo Wrestlers, and Homer Simpson (Granted, not as fat, but fatter than I am). Or am I taking my figure too seriously?
I don't think size really matters all that much. I've seen plus size women dress as chibi characters and they looked like they were having a blast which is all that really matters.
I've also seen ridiculously small men cosplay as ginormous characters which totally make their costume so much more fun to see because they look preposterous in groups.
I've also seen just about every other variation and the thing is: if you are enjoying yourself then rock on and rock hard.

I NEEEEED HELP!!!!
1) My Luke fon Fabre sword needs some touch ups. It'll take maybe 5 minutes to do (+dry time) but I've decided to remove the pieces I have glued on there which are acting as gems and to just paint the gems on despite the fact it would be flat. This would prevent the gems from constantly falling off and making it look crappy. I don't think in photographs you'd even be able to tell.
What I need from someone: yellow model paint. (As in: the kind of paint you would use to paint a gundam or clix)
2) Does any guy have a plain white (CLEAN) undershirt that they don't need? Maybe it's just a bit too small for you or you just have, like... 50 and wouldn't mind helping a gal out. (This is for my Leon (FF/Kingdom Hearts costume.)
3) Shoes I'm needing that I'm wondering if anyone has seen something similar anywhere (am looking for where I can get them/brand names I can look up online so I can buy/ways to create)
In order of urgency needed :
- Risa Koizumi's: ceo-bcn.upc.es/pase/lovely/imagenes/risa_01.gif
^*** So pink. I think I can find orange shoelaces alright... though I'm think of either Keds or Converse... if I can find a pink pair in my size anyway. (Which would you think? Keds... converse... another?)
-Leon's (Kingdom Hearts version) images1.wikia.nocookie.net/kingdomhearts/images/thumb/d/d1/Leon_KH_1.jpg/260px-Leon_KH_1.jpg
I have a pair of black doc martins (luckily they have black threading and not typical yellow threading so they may work for this) that are sort of funked up anyway... it's just I worry because the shoelaces would show though I can just get solid black either thin or flat shoelaces in the hopes that they won't SHOW as much. As for the silver I'm thinking either paint or foil?
-Goofy's (Kingdom Hearts version. This does not need to be done until the end of the yearish though it's going to be time consuming and possibly costly so I want to think it out as much as possible.)
It's going to be an anthropomorphic (cutesy almost, though not quite) version of the goof.

I actually have no clue what I'm going to be doing about that. My friend is going as Donald and is really good at conceptualizing things, it's just we haven't discussed shoes and it would just be nice to get them out of the way as it often tends to be the part that's most difficult. (Other than weapons simply because I tend to have my costumes made in goodness knows what country.)
*~*~*~*
I have one more costume I'm doing for AX. (Possibly.) Though I'm waiting to hear more from the group I'm doing it with to see if it's all a go so I'll probably be asking about that.
*~*~*~*
Teatime: Any time I'm able to and you are willing I'd be glad to try my hand at the sewing machine. (I've not made much more than basics: purse, apron and shorts in home ec, a skirt, and pillows. )

This would prevent the gems from constantly falling off and making it look crappy. I don't think in photographs you'd even be able to tell. What I need from someone: yellow model paint. (As in: the kind of paint you would use to paint a gundam or clix) Depending on how the gems are attached it could possibly be fixed in a way that would keep them from coming off. Also they wont look as good in photos if they're flat. I have yet to see painting on 3D objects look really really good. As for the paint... I don't have yellow model paint however there's a hobby/model shop right next to school that you can go to. It's on Ocean between 16th and 17th if I recall correctly. They're really nice and stock a few different brands of paint. 2) Does any guy have a plain white (CLEAN) undershirt that they don't need? Maybe it's just a bit too small for you or you just have, like... 50 and wouldn't mind helping a gal out. (This is for my Leon (FF/Kingdom Hearts costume.) While you may be able to get one from someone else, undershirts are pretty cheap when purchased in packs. They're also worth it. They're good for wearing under any cosplay that involves white shirts and tend to be just a hair transparent. If you plan on using one as an outer shirt you may want to take two and sew them together for added thickness/opacity. 3) Shoes I'm needing that I'm wondering if anyone has seen something similar anywhere (am looking for where I can get them/brand names I can look up online so I can buy/ways to create) First thing. Anything that looks particularly odd you are unlikely to find as is. This means getting profiles down and figuring out what you can and cannot modify. I suggest checking out payless for cheap shoes in the correct shape that can then be covers/edited into the shoes you need for the costume. - Risa Koizumi's: ceo-bcn.upc.es/pase/lovely/imagenes/risa_01.gif^*** So pink. I think I can find orange shoelaces alright... though I'm think of either Keds or Converse... if I can find a pink pair in my size anyway. (Which would you think? Keds... converse... another?) They look a little more padded than Converse. They also seem to be a matte solid color without any sort of pattern, which is going to be hard to find. D: -Leon's (Kingdom Hearts version) images1.wikia.nocookie.net/kingdomhearts/images/thumb/d/d1/Leon_KH_1.jpg/260px-Leon_KH_1.jpg I have a pair of black doc martins (luckily they have black threading and not typical yellow threading so they may work for this) that are sort of funked up anyway... it's just I worry because the shoelaces would show though I can just get solid black either thin or flat shoelaces in the hopes that they won't SHOW as much. As for the silver I'm thinking either paint or foil? It looks like the pants go down pretty far, which should cover at least some of your laces issue. Have you thought of using piping for the silver? I saw some presewn silver piping downtown last time I was there that would look pretty good and likely be more durable than paint or foil. If you want to make the laces completely disappear you could always make a sleeve for your shoes. Though that can get a bit tedious and involved. -Goofy's (Kingdom Hearts version. This does not need to be done until the end of the yearish though it's going to be time consuming and possibly costly so I want to think it out as much as possible.) It's going to be an anthropomorphic (cutesy almost, though not quite) version of the goof. images2.wikia.nocookie.net/kingdomhearts/images/thumb/2/26/Goofy000.jpg/345px-Goofy000.jpg I actually have no clue what I'm going to be doing about that. (Other than weapons simply because I tend to have my costumes made in goodness knows what country.) How much do you want them to look like Goofy's shoes? Because I'd suggest getting a comfortable pair of shoes and either adding foam then covering it or getting some of those plastic clown shoes, butchering them, frankensteining them onto the comfy shoes and then covering that. The plastic route would likely be more sturdy. Maybe you could do that then wrap the result in a thin layer of craft foam before covering it so that the cover lays more naturally? Teatime: Any time I'm able to and you are willing I'd be glad to try my hand at the sewing machine. (I've not made much more than basics: purse, apron and shorts in home ec, a skirt, and pillows. ) Well, this month I'm doing a lot of sewing. Since I have two costumes to finish for Fanime. I will be working on some of that this Sunday if you want to swing by.
